Merits are the special qualities of a character in the World of Darkness. Human Merits are Merits that any character in the World of Darkness can get, because so far every Player Character starts out as human. With a Merit a character can hold her breath longer, get a "sixth sense", or even just become richer and more famous.

For rules on Merits please see Chapter 5 in the World of Darkness Rulebook, pg. 108-17. A supernatural Player Character will have more Merits to choose from based on their "race", but those Merits will be in different sections of this wiki. For instance, Merits that only affect Vampires will be in the Vampire Merits section.

Creating Human Merits[]

The Format for Creating Human Merits[]

Human Merits added to the Forge should be created as close to this format as the author deems possible so as to ensure a homogeneous quality of work.

1. Create a link to your Human Merit's page by typing NameOfHumanMerit under a proper heading. An example is Sharp Mind.

2. Copy the following format onto your Human Merit's page and fill it in.

Back to Human Merits

Title of Human Merit
Merit Cost: Amount of dots the Merit costs to buy
Prerequisites: Attributes/Skills #
Effect: The explanation of the merit and the mechanical effect. Also add further prerequisites to using or obtaining the Merit such as "available at character creation only" or "must be using a small pistol."
Drawback: [Optional] Limits the Human Merit either to make the merit "balanced" or less powerful. A good way to decide if there is a drawback is to think of questions players could ask when thinking about choosing this merit.
If the merit requires its own roll add -
Dramatic Failure: Effect
Failure: Effect
Success: Effect
Exceptional Success: Effect
As additional options add -
Suggested Equipment: Equipment/Bonus (+ Amount of Bonus)
Possible Penalties: Penalty (- Amount of Penalty)
